The cerebrovascular accident or “stroke” is part of cerebrovascular disorder that is
often found in Thailand, the cause of which is generally due to sudden blockage of
arteries, causing a shortage of blood in the brain that leads to brain death. Most
patients with this type of illness will experience limb weakness, half-body
numbness, twisted mouth, tight tongue, ataxic gait (staggering) and speaking
difficulty and loss of balance etc.

The Hospital is fully aware of the importance of the cerebrovascular problems and
has set up this Stoke Centre equipped with holistic care, starting from Emergency
Care Unit i.e., treatment by using rt-PA, brain surgery, surveillance on possible

Treatment guidelines for cerebrovascular accident

• Stroke patients stand a good chance of full recovery provided that they get
  Medical care and treatment within 4 hours after the stroke.
• Physical therapy and rehabilitation will be performed by physiatrist,
  physiotherapist, occupational therapist, who will jointly assess the patients’
  condition and plan their treatment for the leftover abnormalities resulting
  from the stroke.
