Ratchaphruek Hospital, Khon Kaen, Thailand is widely known as the âHealing Environment Hospitalâ largely due to the unique, traditional architecture incorporated into a modern hospital building. Complimenting the warm âhomelikeâ building are the trees and gardens surrounding the building with an abundance of gardens on the many balconies. This healing environment is enhanced by the skilled experienced staff utilizing up-to-date medical facilities and equipment. But we are best known for our humanized person-centered care which is our guiding principle.
Â
Established in 1994, the Hospital has been growing continuously from the old location in the city center. In 2016 we had outgrown the demand for our medical services and a new building was designed and built on this new present location. The new building design was holistically drafted on the concept of creating a healing environment that promotes the wellness of body and mind at the same time. Modern medical facilities were artfully incorporated into a home-like hospital that reflects the wisdom from Buddha teaching âbody can be sick but spared your mindâ or âsick body, healthy mind.â
Ratchaphruek Hospital opened the newly built hospital in 2018 and now receives over 200,000 patients per year, and in 2022, there were 20,000 patients hospitalised in our beautiful modern wards. The hospital was accredited by JCI International Standards in August 2019, just one year after the building was opened. In September 2020, we joined the membership with Planetree International Organization, a very important step to enhance our patient-centred approach to healthcare for patients and their families. We were very pleased to announce that our hospital had been globally certified by Global Healthcare Accreditation, joining the prestigious list of only 14 internationally recognized healthcare facilities. What sets us apart is that out of these 14, only 5 have achieved the esteemed status of âAccreditation with Excellenceâ. As well we won the Silver Award for Architectural Design in 2020 from The Association of Siamese Architects under Royal Patronage.
The senior management had created a definitive vision for the new hospital, which included maintaining accessibility for Thai Nationals, a fair pricing structure, a strong humanistic philosophy, and creating a new premise that encouraged a peaceful healing environment. Prior to commencing operations in 2018, management conducted a final review and was moved to declare, âWe are determined to be a leading private hospital that provides international high-quality standards and humanized care.â Upon opening the new hospital, the Mission Statement was naturally established; âWe are committed to improvement, to provide healthcare meeting international standards for quality, safety, with empathy, accessibility, leadership in humanized care, a healing environment, and a dedicated focus on excellent patient experiences. Being recognized by JCI, Planetree International, and Global Healthcare Accreditation served to reconfirm our vision and mission.
